Plant Type: Cane like
Origin: Brazil
Date: 1885
Description: B. albo-picta (which means ‘white’) has glossy
green and silver spotted leaves on cane-like stems growing 1 –
1.5 metres high and produces off white flowers with a tinge of
pink. It is easy to grow but not a fast growing cane.
Cultivation: Along with similar cane begonias, B. albo-picta
needs bright sunlight all year round to grow strong stems and
flowers. Propagation is by cuttings from the younger, greener
stems and seeds.
It is a parent of Begonia ‘Lucerna’, Begonia ‘Medora’ and Begonia ‘Argenteo Guttata’ which are very popular hybrids.
